That first one is silly for the contradictory crap spouted about how Gibson in 1969 was all about fine craftsmanship and not corporate bs! \:D

You may remember, the 1969's were a product of Norlin, who dumbed down the Gibson production practices (and in the process, the quality)! They list this guitar as having no volute... Well that means it's one of the survivors, which is a good thing. But by "survivors" I mean it's headstock has remained attached to the rest of the neck. The reason Norlin/Gibson put the volute on guitars was to make up for the poor quality neck wood they used for those guitars. Headstock/neck joints were cracking under normal stresses enough to force them into adding material (rather than using stronger wood) to shore up this joint.

I wouldn't touch that guitar with a 10 foot pole without first having it inspected by a quality luthier. I certainly wouldn't spend a premium for it online.

hahaha, thanks for the info...

also, the 2nd one doesn't look like a real LP Std... I'm guessing it's fake but feedback could be "real".... could it be this dude really is clueless about his axe being fake?

The stupid story and pics alone would keep me away from that first one! And it sure looks like, in the 3rd picture down, that AnnMarie needs to zip up her fly! \:D

When I first looked at the second one, I wondered why you had posted it. Then it looked at it again and a little closer. It sure looks like a fake to me. Notice the way that the headstock is out of focus in both pics? Serial # available upon request? Hmmmm.

The second one is almost certainly not a Standard. It may very well be a an LP Studio, but one of the constant differences between Standards and Studios is body binding. If that guitar has body binding I don't see it.

It gets better. I emailed the seller for the serial number. Either it's a total fake or they missed a number.

From 1978 to 2004 Gibson used an 8 digit serial in which the 1st and 5th digit indicated the year of manufacture, the second through fourth indicated information about manufacture and the sixth through eighth digits indicated the instruments number within certain groups, for that day's production.

I phoned Gibson for the skinny and was told that since 2005 they went to a 9 digit number.

By the old scheme this would be a 2006 which should be impossible. The alternative is the seller forgot a digit. Either way it's not worth my time to further check out.
