I am buying one in the coming months, going for the super sport. An old time music shop in my area has just been certified to become a dealer and I am buying from them.
I played one at GC Friday night and the neck is like butter!
It took me a long time to really like the looks of it. I always felt it was too small and actually ugly. I have gone from wanting a PRS, A Fender, just about everything except Gibsons. I tried out a lot of different PRS models and for some reason they never hit me, nothing jumped out at me, although at times they felt great. Like the guy said at the shop I'm buying the guitar at, you know in 15 seconds whether the guitar is for you or not, anything after that then you are just selling it to yourself. When I used this Axis it took me about ten seconds and once I started playing it, forget it-I was in love.
Once I tried it out I played through a Fender DeVille and I'm telling you I got everything from Blues to Jazz tones out of the thing. This was in a crowded GC so if I liked the sounds in that atmosphere then it should be better at home.
Expensive yes, but that's why they created overtime...my boss knows full well that I intend on buying a new guitar and to max me out with extra work...so far she has agreed...it will still take me a while to pick it up but the wait is better, by the time I have the money my decision will be made and solid.
