hi. I searched the forum but couldnt seem to find an article or a thread which discusses what to place the studio monitors on. Or in other words, what to place beneath the monitors.

....anybody?

What are they on now? How are they set up? Can you post a photo? Etc. \:D

Right now they're standing on a couple of hollow cardboard boxes i got from work. They bring the monitors to perfect height.

If these are ok, I was planning on stuffing them with rockwool leftovers that i got after building the basstraps, and then finaly cover them with some fabric just for cosmetic reasons!

I'm building two more traps right now to place the ones furthest back ;\)

I'm also wondering if I may be sitting to close to the monitors?

Cardboard boxes are great for putting speakers on because they're very effective decouplers. Really. This is what I have in my living room. Think I'm kidding? In the photo below you can just see a white cardboard shipping box under my Mackie 624 in the foreground.

nice!
Are your boxes filled with fiberglass?
I imagine it's clever to fill the cavities in the boxes, becuase hollow rooms like that tend to accumulate bass?

I didn't bother to fill the boxes, and they decouple fine even when empty. If they were made of rigid material like wood it might help to stuff them. But cardboard is a "lossy" material, and I haven't noticed any resonances etc.
