Mesa Boogie Bass 400+
Tube Bass Amplifier
Handmade in California, USA.
300-watts, all tube, (12)6L6 power tubes, (4)12AX7 preamp tubes.

Retail is $1,599.
For sale: $999, free shipping to continental United States. The price is firm.

Note: Mesa Boogie has announced this amplifier is on its final production run. This amplifier is a classic and will no longer be produced (according to Mesa Boogie).

Used units in worse shape usually go for this plus $50 shipping. The unit goes to eBay on May 15, 2008 if it is unsold. Payment via PayPal (eCheck only) or US Postal Money Order. Fast, insured, and professional shipment after payment clears. See my stellar eBay ratings and purchase with confidence. Sorry, no international sales.

This is a great sounding amplifier. It can go extremely loud and has a continuous 300-watt tube power section. Mesa Boogie quotes 500-watts, but the true continuous power from these amps is 300-watts. It can sound very similar to an Ampeg SVT, but the preamp section is much more flexible. More importantly, one better than an Ampeg SVT, this amplifer can be used safely at 8, 4, or 2 ohms (versus the SVT's 4 or 2 ohm output). According to Mesa Boogie, this 3-rack unit is less than 50 lbs., which is about half the weight of an Ampeg SVT.

I have no need for it. I have not gigged in over a year and I have another six amplifiers sitting around (including another tube bass amp).

If you find yourself constantly chasing a rock tone that you cannot achieve, give one of these amplifiers (or an Ampeg SVT-CL or Peavey Classic 400) a chance. Do you need this amplifier to rock? No. But it sure is nice to have...

This unit is nearly indistiguisable from new. Slight scratch on top of unit from rack mounting. Gigged only once at Mercury Lounge in Manhattan.

Original accessories included (see picture). Original box. Original "tube covers" for transportation and shipping. It is a wonderful amplifier and deserves a good player and some action.

Where was this before I purchased my GK1001? ;\)

It's a bit on the heavy side, but I love the sound. I've been back and forth with Mesa and Eden for a while, before I settled (maybe 'settled' is the wrong word) for the GK as the price could not be beat. The GK sounds great but that Mesa would of been snatched up if you posted this back in February. Aww shucks...

Thanks rizzo. I would have even hand-delivered it to your door as you are so close.

Great amp. I am sure I will have seller's remorse on this one.

I've played out of one of those amps.

The sound is like buttah.

The head weighs a ton, but it's worth every pound.
