Found this nice USA Strat for sale in my local CraigsList...

2000 USA Strat, sunburst, light wear, soft case. Seller is asking $600.

Seller's quote "Z0 serial # made in 2000. Good shape, minor player wear. Comes with a gig bag, the trem arm is missing. "

Anybody know what the current trade-in price at GC would be?

How can I be sure its really a Made in USA model?

22 frets is a good indicator for that year - run the serial number on Fender's website. The price is almost too low....

Z is the serial number designation for USA built.

Could be..

Could also be stolen or maybe someone just hard up for cash..
You never know. Obviously if it is for real it's a great deal.

Thanks folks... Did a little research as well. Seems that in June 2000, Fender revamped their line-up of strats. The American Standard series was dropped after a 13 year run and was replaced with this guitar... the American Series - featuring many improvements based on features found on the Deluxe series.

Apparently this particular guitar is one of the newer American Series.

Seller also dropped his price from $625, posted 2 weeks earlier.

if it's on craig's list, I'd go check it out... nothing to lose.

600 is believable, I got mine way under that. Did he change the knobs or something? the picture looks kinda funky.
