I would like to replace the grill cloth on a Fender amp but I cannot find the correct style. I find everything but what I need. It is sliver black red the silver is the cross hatch the black is horizontal and the red is vertical. I can find just about anything else but not what the original grill cover is like. Any ideas? I have looked and googled online but no seems to carry this particular style of grill cloth

Badlife, I found some a couple of years ago from a local guitar/amp repair place. And he had a scrap piece that he sold me for a great price, compared to prices I'd seen for grillcloth on line. What I got was the Silver Face style, with the blue in it, but he had quite a bit of others to choose from. Good luck, hope you find what your looking for.
BTW, isn't that the grill cloth for a Fender Bronco amp? If it is, it may be pretty hard to find, but I'll bet there's some out there. Maybe try contacting Fender? They may not have it, but might know who would. Good luck.

Try here;

If you don't see it there, e mail them and ask if they can get it for you, or where you might find it.

Actually it is for a 1974 Fender Silverface vibrolux Reverbe. As Far as I can tell it is original. The closest I see is the aged Fender Silverface at http://www.ampwares.com/coverings.html but the stuff on the amp actually has red in it.

The funny thing is that it has more of a raised silver going both horizontal and vertical than any of the replacement cloth I have seen. The black threads go though the middle of the silver squares horizontally and the red go through them vertically. I guess I could always make a new grill board with one of the other styles and keep the old one for now. I would like to keep it original looking. I was going to make a new grill board anyway and keep the old one as original so thats not really a problem. It just won't look right without the same style. The old one has some holes in it. Also the grill board is broken in two places and if you crank it up it buzzes. I am thinking about gluing it. Not sure if this qualifies as vintage but I hesitate to do anything to an amp to make it out modified in any way. If I want that I'll have a new one built to my specs why destroy something if it's not what you need

Hum that's the right colors but it's not the same style. I am not so sure that the grill cloth is original as the information I find on several sites is that it should be Fender blue silver sparkle for a 70's Vibrolux. I also notice that the amps I have been able to find pictures of seem to have the blue silver sparkle. Anyone have a Fender from around 1974? If so what does the grill cloth look like? The other strange thing is that it would appear to have a tube rectifier and I though Fender went to solid state rectifiers in the early 70's I think I may have one of those strange Fender amps with the blackface circuit. I do not know what year it is for sure as I was going by the Serial number from a list I got somewhere. Hum I know it has a tube rectifier as I just looked at it again. But another site lists that as normal for the whole silverface vibrolux run from 1970 on. Link http://www.ampwares.com/ffg/vibrolux_reverb_sf.html

I'm pretty sure, but you may want to clarify, that all Fender SF amps had the blue/silver sparkle grill cloth, except, and again I'm not positive, the Bronco, which if I remember correctly(I used to have one years ago), had basically the same, but with the red instead of the blue in it.
EDIT: I just Googled the Bronco, it had the same blue/silver sparkle as the others, no red at all in the grill cloth.

Yes it is a mystery as to why the grill cloth has red in it. I wonder if maybe it has been replaced? As far as I can tell it looks original but all the other Silverfaces seem to have the blue sparkle. The way the grill cloth is installed on the grill board makes me think it was not original. But I have no idea how Fender factory installation was done. Of course Fender has been know to ship some pretty strange things from the factory. It has been well documented that some of the circuits that were shipped were either prototypes or experimental so them installing some grill cloth that just happened to be lying around is not too much of a stretch. I think I'll just replace the board and all with period correct Fender silver blue sparkle and keep the old one just in case.

That's what I would do, just in case, as you say, it does happen to be original. Good luck!

Well the grill cloth is on a separate board that is attached to the speaker baffle with Velcro. At least I always call the part the speaker is actually attached to the speaker baffle. The board that the grill cloth is on is 1/2" particle board painted black. If the board was not already broken I would probably just remove the old grill cloth and save it. It buzzes when you crank it though.

Well after some more research I find out the so called orange-sparkle grill cloth was shipped on some Fenders of that vintage. They just don't seem to make it anymore.
