I was at my daughters school carnival today and they had a cover band play. They were pretty good and the lead guitar players tone was really very good. From where we were sitting I could not recognize the amp so I walked over and saw it was a Richtone. I have never heard of them. I went to the site but do not see this model.
Anyone know what model it is?
It is a pretty sharp looking amp and seriously the tone was really nice.....mostly he was using a distorted sound, not much clean but the clean sounded good also..they did a few Police tunes. His lead tone really jumped out though.....I did not look at what he was using on his pedal board however. I should have.

They are really expensive boutique amps from Montreal. Since they quote Myles on their site (because they use not-so-common power tubes), Myles might have heard about them, too. I would ask him.

What is weird is that I do not see this model advertised at their site. Perhaps they offer custom builds by phone as I see nothing to indicate where this amp originated. The logo even looks a little different and does not say Amplification after it.

I thought about that....and started one....but I deleted it....what if the amp head in my pic is from a different builder using the name and it starts a shitstorm?
I mean the logo looks different does it not? Notice how the R has a loop that does not curl down and theirs does...also has Amplification after it.
Plus the amp casing design is completely different to their style. The whole cherrybomb style and the expanded metal etc etc....this amp in my pic is way more classic.

yeah it could be a copy, but your email wouldn't get anybody in trouble, it would just be a heads up that there are copycat amps out there.

Fumbly...it appears from the knob layout and overall style that it is Marshall clone.
How did it sound...did it have the old-school Marshall vibe?

Well this guy has a killer tone, he is happy with his amp I am sure. He also most likely would be unaware of any trademark infringement as may be the guy who built it....IF in fact it is two different companies. So why not leave it at that? Why risk spoiling things for the guy. I do not see the upside of running off at the mouth about it. Sometimes things are better left unsaid. I just do not feel like being the gear police.
Yes Miro it had a nice old Marshall like tone.
I doubt it is a copycat. I would assume it is two companies using the same name unknowingly.

Obviously they don't want to pursue......maybe it gets down to them arguing about who was first.....although I think foreign business does not count though huh......it would only matter inside the USA.
I do not like the look of the Canadian Richtone amps......not my thing.
This one is nice though.

Right Lister, it sounds like the Canadian guys don't see that one in California as any kind of real threat? I haven't even been able to find a website for them? too bad you didn't get a opportunity to talk to the guy who was using that amp.
