At Callaway Gardens in Georgia, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra played outside on the lake beach, starting right at dusk and played almost 2 hours!
Mei-Ann Chen was the conductor and she rocked!
They had a fantastic stage and sound crew. The sound was 1st class and crystal clear. Just a really quality and full sound and you could hear all the nuances at any given time.
The weather was over cast but the stars came out later and the temperature dropped a little.
Everyone had their little fold out chairs or blankets with coolers of wine or beer and we had cheese and bread on the side as well.
I'm telling you, I didn't know the ASO was that good! WOW!
With the clarinet being the first instrument I ever played, it really brought back memories of what we used to attempt to do in the Concert band in my school years.
Anyway, it was such a nice change to hear a different style of music in such a setting with the caliber of musicians these people were!
Hope your Friday evening was just as great as mine!
Randy

Whenever I travel on business, which is quite often I try to see the local symphony, so far Chicago is my favorite place. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra is outstanding, their playing of Stravinsky's Rite Of Spring is second to none.
