Hello all
Firstly; Ethan, i read your faq about room acoustics treatment and it helped me really much.Thank you very very much.
I've decided to treat my room.To make the things clear i need some help.I draw my room as much as i can manage, it was really difficult for me :

Firstly i want to treat all of four corners of my room with my home made 4" bass traps. The problem is that it's difficult to treat back corners because ,as you can see in the drawing, the door at the corner of my room makes it impossible to put bass traps there. So i'm thinking to put one bass trap at the door and put another at the side wall like this:

Is it ok to treat that corner this way?

Secondly the other back corner...As you can see there is a damn huge column there \:P If i put a bass trap there...

I'm afraid that the particules of fiberglass may leak and drop at my bed and it would make me really mad \:\( What do you think?

Antoher problem is treating the rear wall for early reflections. As you can see there is a wardrobe at the centre of the rear wall. One way may be is to put one or two 2" fiberglass panel with a stand in front of the wardrobe, right?

At the end it will be something like this:

May be i can put some more bass traps later(In fact i'm tired of drawing more bass traps at this point )

What do you think?

EDIT: Bass Traps i'm talking about above are broad band absorbers(i haven't made them but will make soon).I thought that type of fabric(how much breathable) effects how much the panels absorb low frequencies. But i've noticed that i was wrong. It effects only how much the trap will absorb mid and high frequencies, am i wrong? This means if i use breathable fabric it will be a broad band absorber. And if there is a reflective metarial in front of the panel it will be only bass trap.Correct me if i'm wrong.
I'm asking this because i don't want all of my bass traps to absorb higher frequencies, i would hate a room too dead. So,
should i use some with FRK facing(for the corners) and some without FRK(especially for the first reflections)?Kind of fabric has nothing to do with low frequency absorbility, right?

Tore,

That all looks fine. I wouldn't worry about fiberglass dust. Just don't bang on the panels with a broom stick. \:D

Also in that useless area behind your desk you could put bass traps at the wall to floor corner. I am planning on putting at least 6 bass traps across the wall to floor corner. In my living room this is actually the most convenient location for bass traps.

Hi all,
Thanks for the answers.
Yes i'll treat first reflection area on the ceiling.I wonder if i should cover remaining area on the ceiling with absorbers or just treat first reflection point.

And that front wall to floor corner, in fact there is no much space there, i can walk with difficulty to reach my Pc's back panel!Lots of cables etc...But i can put bass traps on front wall to ceiling corner, if it's really needed.

Thanks again.

Clap your hands and see if you hear a "boing" from the bare ceiling. If so, cover more area.

Ethan, when you say clap your hands and listen for "ringing, echoing..."

Do you mean only from the mix position, or around the entire room. If I hear no ringing when clapping at the mix position, does it matter if it rings somewhere else?
