I've got a listening room approximately 22'x12'x7.5' where my chair is at one end and the speakers are about 10 ft away from the chair and about 2 ft off the side walls.
I built some bass trap panels (2'x4') of compressed fiberglass that I placed as a backstop to the speakers--right behind them with the panels parallel to the backs of the speakers. The speakers are VMPS 626R that have rear ports. I've got 85 Hz filters on my amp to limit the low frequencies to the speakers, and send a signal to a RAVA subwoofer that is placed on the left side of the room, outboard of the left speaker.
I'm wondering if the output of the speakers is compromised at all by the placement of the traps right behind them. I could attach a hard panel of plexiglas or hardboard to the panels right behind the ports, but I don't know if that would make any difference, good or bad.
Any thoughts on placing the traps right behind the speakers?

The only way to know how the traps affect the speakers is to measure the LF response. I would not put a bass trap inches away from a port, but a few feet away is probably okay.
