Harmony is not some static thing that can be just generically applied. Depending on the melody itself against its chord progression, many different notes need to be considered as potential harmonies.

The "harmonizer" hardware you see out there still requires a significant amount of user input to function. You have to know how to create harmony in order to make it do likewise.

I don't know if they exist exactly as you describe, but I bet that they do. Two things to understand though... you need to know in which key you are playing for anything like this to extrapolate the notes correctly; and parallel harmonies are dull as dirt, except in limted quantities. Also, in order to get any of the hardware units that I have tried to work well, I had to take all the expression out of the playing.... it just sounds stupid when the harmonies are tracking all the little touches of an emotional performance. So I had to play the parts in a dull and boring fashion to get the harmonies to come out right, after I tracked the part the way that I wanted it. By the time I have done all that, I might as well have just played or sang the harmonies.

You might look at Band In A Box, and I know that you can create harmonies from the Freeze tool in Samplitude. No doubt this is avaliable in other packages, too. It's just not a tool that I use, so I'm not up on who might have the best option. There was a package a few years ago, with one male and two female voices for singing artifical harmonies, but I haven't seen them mentioned in a while so my guess would be that they were not as cool as the could have been.
