I went to see Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings in Dublin 4 days ago. So, the crowd was allowed in at 8.00pm. The concert was organised in the medium size night club for approximately 300-400 people.
I was looking forward to see those lads; I have seen them on “Youtube” and was nicely surprised by the playing technique and by the groove from their bass player Bosco ‘Bass’ Mann. So, I prepared my self to get a portion of inspiration and just to enjoy the good quality music.
But it all went bad. Firstly this guy, DJ played so loudly I got half way deaf in 20 minutes or so. He was torturing the crowd from 8.00 pm to 10.30pm. At 10.30 pm the exhausted audience finally saw the guitar player who came on stage with bottle of red wine and the glass in his hands, totally drunk. He tuned his guitar and disappeared again. Then was a turn of bass guitar player. Same story. Finally, they got on the stage at 11.00pm. There was a lot of bla-bla-bla and then they decided to play a tune or two so we would prepare ourselves to see Ms. Jones. You had to see them playing. I got enough after I saw bass player Bosco stopped playing in the middle of the tune, grabbed his glass with drink from the floor, had a sip or two, put it back started playing again missing the line, playing off tune. After 3 songs they started talking to each other, worrying that Sharon Jones is still not around. I said to my wife do you want to go home? We left after waiting for 3 hours and spending 67 euro on tickets. They are good musicians but what is the story with the attitude?

Sorry to hear that you got ripped off by this band. It is very un-professional for the band to get drunk on the job like that. I'd be tempted to never spend another cent on them.
