'75 LP Custom

'80ish "The Paul" Modifications due to youthful stupidity. Old pic, it's since had PUPs replaced so both are black. And I recently found both original PUPs, so I might get it back to stock someday.

I have seen Rick Nielsen play a LP with an Explorer type neck at a couple different shows. I never investigated it further, though. I might have a pic of it somewhere but it will take awhile for me to find it...

Getting back to the LP with the Explorer type headstock, I normally don't post concert photos (except on the band's website), but here is the guitar in question:

I didn't remember them having the funny headstock, and that may be a custom piece made just for him. He is both a collector of classic instruments and a guy who has lots of funny ones made for show. Rick is a friend of a friend, and is quite a guy as well as QUITE a collector.

But I DO remember the dive-bomb trem Les Pauls of the late 1970s, and I have watched for them on occasion to show up used, and I don't see them at all. I know that my luthier hates them and says that they are junk, but he hates what those trems do to the tone of a guitar anyway.

Bill, I was wondering the same thing - if it was custom made for him as well. I have never seen another like it either. Yes, Rick does have quite the collection and is an interesting fellow - as a Cheap Trick fan I have had the pleasure of meeting him several times, but unfortunately never for long enough a period to do a whole lot of guitar talk. \:\(

No not a reissue, thats a original 68 LPC. I replaced the pu covers and the tail piece, but I still have the original hardware, the tuning machines are original.
