Quick Question - back wall?

Hi all -- starting on a 12 x 13 room, 8 ft. ceilings; I am stuck mixing very close to the front wall... against double windows, no less, and will report back on my experiments.
My question: I've read a ton of conflicting stuff regarding the back wall. I can do some big bass traps, but there seems to be a lot of opinions about diffusion back there - curved plywood over 4" 703, curved peg board over same, etc... what's a good direction to start?
My biggest interest is (A) translatable mixes and (B) a room that my Gibson J45 Acoustic sounds and TRACKS really good in; when i can get it sounding on disc the way it sounds to my ears, I'll be on my way; so, is some extra focus on diffusion - back wall, sides,or ceiling - something to play with? I really don't wantthe room too dead.
A "side" note; the left side wall has a 5-foot, no-door opening into a living room sized area - the opening is a foot+ behind my mix position, 2' forward of the back wall. Will that have a god effect, sucking out some bass? Or not?
Thanks! MC

Some additional info - here's the room layout:
Regarding the front wall/windows situation; I spend 8 hours a day doing web design in that spot, so I'm loathe to block the windows. Would something along these lines help? It would cut down on window space but should trap reflections. Here's the front section showing where I'll place OC 703 traps; the green blocks near the speakers could be 2" 703 frames, 48" high, mounted on heavy bases & sitting on the desktop. The section between the speakers could be some sort of 4" - 6" deep "block" of 703, 10 - 12" wide, again standing on the desk. (I can cast bases from Precision Grout - a very dense & heavy concrete product).

In a room that size I'd use absorption behind you rather than diffusion.
Openings are generally good, and yours is behind you which is better still because it keeps the front of the room symmetrical for good imaging.
A window in front of you is rarely a problem because your speakers don't face that way. Side-wall and rear-wall reflections are much more damaging.
So just add as much bass trapping as you can manage and you'll be in good shape.

Thanks for the advice - I found a great supplier in the DFW area, I'll add that to the "Sources" thread. -- MC
