I'm in a bit of a predicament- i can't make any permanent fixings in the room I'm in so I'm going to have to use some kind of temporary hook that can be easily removed without causing any damage to paintwork and the wall/roof itself. The aborbers that line the walls aren't really a problem because i can just rest the them up against the wall.
I realize a few others maybe in this same situation due to either living in a rented property or having a rather touchy father who doesn't want to see his hours of painting be wrecked! (fair enough too!)
So, I'm considering using those 3M command hooks to suspend some absorption panels off the roof with, you've all probably seen them before ( [url=http://www.3m.com/intl/au/brands/command/products/index.html][/url] here if you haven't). They only hold a few kilos at maximum, and im guessing a 4ftx2ft absorption panel weighs perhaps 4kg, maybe more so I'll probably have to drill holes in the frame of the absorbers to lighten the and/or use 6 or so hooks for each absorber, or perhaps do both.
Has anybody ever used anything like this before and had success or dramas? I'll go ahead with it anyway and report back once its done.
Oh and thankyou for your site Ethan, I've learned heaps
I think those 3M hangers are designed to work with the load pulling perpendicular to the "sticky" part. If the load is pulling away parallel, I foresee them pulling away.
You really don't need much strength to hold up fibreglass. I did a temporary mount with just drywall screws going into my ceiling, most didn't even hit a stud. Then I used string to catch the panels.
Code:

The center row of screws was used twice for the panels either side.
