This is my Degree study into small room acoustics and the use of such a room to undertake mastering in.
Study Overview The purpose of this study is to see if it is possible to use a small room for the production of quality music and to analyse and quantify the acoustics of that space with a view to the installation of acoustic treatment to achieve the goal of quality music in a trustworthy acoustic environment.
In an attempt to quantify the acoustics in a real world scenario, three audio tracks were mastered within a room empty of any acoustic treatment and paraphernalia (books, folders, magazines etc).
Next, after the analysis of the room acoustics, a suitable method of controlling any acoustic anomalies was sought and applied (D.I.Y. perforated Helmholtz Resonator traps).
After treatment the same three audio tracks were mastered again and presented for appraisal.
Please visit http://www.snorksounds.com/study.html and have a listen to the three before and after acoustic treatment tracks and if possible please complete the very short questionnaire.
After completing the questionnaire, scroll down the page and ‘CLICK TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THIS STUDY’ for information and photos about the study.
I will be very grateful for all comments and help on this subject.
