picked up the epi valve junior cab today with the eminence lady luck speaker. it sounds good with the tiny terror. maybe i need another? i am suprised how nice it sounds. i am sure a v30 would smoke it's butt, but for 160 it is a steal. all of a sudden i can hear the high end of the guitar and my pinches are clear. should sound better after it gets broken in a little. it has good bass response as well.

I don't know either...
This is how all of the "Select" guitars are...no covers.
I already swapped out the toggle, as I had an authentic Hagstrom all-chrome, knurled knob toggle left over from the 1970s...and it looks killer, as it matches the Volume/Tone knobs perfectly. These pictures are from before the swap. When I add the chrome PU covers...I'll take fresh pictures.

Does it sonically duplicate one of your others, or does it have its own vibe?

Mmmm...actually, it's somewhat in its own tone group.
It has the same Custom 58 PU's as my Super Swede and Standard Swede...but, the Super is a 25.5 scale and has a coil tap, so it sounds a bit tighter strung...and the Standard Swede is an all-Mahogany body and it has the extra 3-position filter switch, while the Select has a 1/4" maple cap, so it's a bit brighter, a single PU selector and no coil tap. But mainly I wanted to have one of the Select Swedes because they are quite stunning...and you don't see real flamed maple binding on too many guitars these days....unless you pay some top $$$$.
I am probably getting one more Hag for now, and that should be it for awhile. I have my eyes on a Spalted Maple Ultra Swede that is just so unusual, and has a very hot spalted maple, book matched pattern on it. These are limited production run versions with the Spalted Maple (they are not even listed on the Hagstrom website). The Ultra has the same Custom 58 PUs...but it is a basswood body with the spalted maple cap...and it is a 24.75 scale and it has a coil tap switch...so it will offer a few more tone options, but mostly it's a different body style than the other Swedes.

Thanks!
And now…here is my final, last Swede (for the time being… ).
This is the Spalted Maple Ultra Swede I mentioned. I went ahead and bought it, and it just arrived yesterday, so I haven't even played it yet...I just gave it a quick once-over....but will play it this weekend.
Yeah, I kinda' went crazy with the Hagstrom guitars...but, I made a decision to pretty much go with Hagstrom as my "signature" guitar brand. I got rid of a few others I had (which is how managed to buy most of these). AFA my electric 6-string guitars...besides the Hagstrom guitars, I now only have two Ibanez Artcore guitars and a Fender '52 RI Tele. I will keep them for now.
My Hagstrom guitar stable is now up to eight! I'll have to take a photo of all eight Hagstrom guitars all lined up together.
This Ultra Swede has the most perfect book matched top I have seen in a long time. On most flamed tops, usually the two sides are not perfectly lined up, and you can almost always see the line down the middle. But this is perfectly lined up!
Oh...and it has a white pearloid binding, instead of the typical plain white. And the guitar is very light…it weighs maybe 5 lbs only...if it's even that much!!! I will have to weigh it properly...but man, it is SO LIGHT, you can practically hold it just between your two fingers by the body and not worry about dropping it. Of course...it does have a smaller body than your typical Swede...but still...it's surprisingly light...which means the wood is not too wet/dense...so I expect it will have a nice resonance to it.

Wow, Miro that is a stunner! Don't get me started on Hagstroms. My first bass was a Hagstrom and I still miss it! Play it in good health.
