Hmmmm...I have the plug ins that came with it, but I haven't installed them.

Here's what I have.

All I've installed is the ProTools LE 6.1 from like 3 years ago. \:D
I had to get help with that. \:D

Would I have to uninstall the 6.1 before I installed the newer version?

Is this what you're talking about? $75.oo for me.

Yeah that's it. Make sure you read all the compatibility pages for your MBox AND for your computer.

No you do not have to uninstall, you just install over it.

Also make sure you do what they say about setting up the computer, disabling anti virus, disabling sleep mode etc etc....very important. So you might not want to be on the web while in a session. This goes for all Pro Tools not just 7.

I don't worry about it as I am on a Mac and have no antivirus anyway......yuck yuck!!

Just as a note, Mac based worms/viruses/spyware etc are slowly starting to become more of a problem, so it might be worth taking your studio comp off the net at some point in the future if you have no AV.

This is one of the odd things.... I have NEVER been infected from a download. I go to places that I know, I only open things that are from people that I know, and the only time that I have ever gotten bit was when one of the local PA companies gave me a disk with a virus on it.

Meanwhile, two weeks ago, the Rock 'N Roll GirlFriend caught a virus that brought her laptop to it's knees, and I just got the thing back up and running a couple of days ago. (shrug...)

Lee,

How easy is Cubase LE to work with? I'm thinking of getting it for my 13 year old son. He's new to recording, but pretty bright.

Thanks,
Dennis

Well, recorded today with the Zoom H4. Still has far more capability than I need, but the menus are easy to negotiate and I was able to do pretty much exactly what I was looking for. The quality is quite good (the recording, not my singing and playing), IMHO. It came with Cubase LE and I find it a breeze to work with. I'm certainly far from experienced but it's far easier than Ableton Live, which I had been using.

I'd post what I recorded but my singing still needs ALOT of work!
