I have a Fender Precision fretless bass, bought from the Fender dealer in london in 1980 by me! Yes I'm that old. The Precision is truly in amazing condition. It hasn't been played for quite a while. It is a tobacco sunburst and all maple neck. I have never used roundwounds only halfwounds and so the neck surface is not gouged.

Photos can be found in : http://www.heathette.com/photos/Precision/

I even have the original invoice! I paid £260 in 1980, which equates very roughly to £1000 in todays money. Interestingly that's about what it is worth, although you see these basses marked up to £1500, I consider £1000 to be a good price. That's $2000 to you US folk.

But it is negotiable. I think the shipping is about £100 or so.

The more you've posted on the forum the greater the discount!

Take care
Davo

I didn't realize that Fender made a fretless so long ago.

Yeah, I don't know when it was. Must have been sometime in the 70's.

Beautiful!

I'm really surprised that you would be willing to part with it.

Also, according to the Vintage Fender site here:
http://www.provide.net/~cfh/fender.html#serial

Your bass was made sometime from 1977-78.

Good grief Basshappi, I've owned this since new and had assumed it was a 1980 bass. How wrong can a fellow be. Thanks for pointing this out. That means the price has gone up \:\)

Seriously, any sensible offers would be considered.

As I own a Jaco Jazz I just don't play the fretless P and you get to a point where it seems a bit foolish to keep hold of it. I currently only have 5 basses! This is the only one I can realistically part with.
