Pass this on to all your buddies in the lower 48 and wherever:
THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.
This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this PLEASE.
Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea. This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!!
I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?
We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas.
It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can Really work.
Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.
If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.
If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!
I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) .. and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers. If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!
If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!
(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am . So trust me on this one.)
How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!!
I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference.
If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. ;I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.
Keep it going

Nor here.
Of course, if the World price goes up (which it has) there's not a lot of leeway............

I thought that if we just invaded enough oil-producing countries, the price would go down... guess I was wrong. Or we need to get the troops ready again. (Psst... can you gas up our tanks before cross your border? There's a pal!)
Not that Workstation MI doesn't have an interesting idea (not that it's his own- I've gotten this "new idea" in my e-mail for years now), but unfortunately, it's not all that practical. Where do the "little guy" gas stations get their gas? Still from OPEC oil, refined in the big guys' plants. Just sold under a different name. It's not like Jedidiah has a small family run oil well, refinery & still up on the hillside and you're supporting a local businessman.
Instead, let's just grow crops that we can turn into ethanol. Yeah, why feed people relatively cheaply when we can sell our food for a bit more profit and burn it in car engines?
We need to skip that stage and get to the Doc Brown technology of turning trash into fuel.
If only I were a bit more scientific. If I had a hammer. If I had a rocket launcher...

I am going to buy a bunch of old Benz 240Ds and get a bunch Mickey D's to give me their used fryer oil and me and my evil genius nine year old boy are gonna build a one step bio-refinery in the back yard and then after permits and taxes, we'll probably save 25 cents on the barrel.....maybe.

There's quite a few people doing that already in the UK.

Although I'm not the kind of person that feels obligated to use those fancy internet abbrevations while "surfin' the 'net", I'm rather tempted to give this one a big fat 'LOL'

Well, figuring that all you're paying for in that situation is about a gram of lye (at $1.25 a pound) and 10mL of methanol (buy it at the local race track for $4 a gallon) for a 5 gallon batch of biodiesel, chances are you'll save substantially more if you don't have to pay for the grease.

aah, grasshopper, you failed to snatch the ironic pebble from my post......PERMITS AND TAXES.....bio-refineries are defined under distillery laws and the permits are velly expensive, round eye...and the taxes, eech, what's a kung fu master to do.

Taxes? They don't tax you making biodiesel for personal use!
Now, if you're planning to resell it, that's a whole nother barrel of fish...
