Cliff Notes version: my son totalled his car and put it on its side in a ditch ; thankfully, he was unhurt, and somehow, other than his car, managed not to damage any other cars, property or, most importantly, life forms. Unfortunately, our family cannot function without him having a car (too many schedules, too many obligations, not enough drivers). To that end I'm moving some gear fast.
The Kurzweil PC3x...obviously it's new, demand will be high, and will finance a large bulk of a car purchase quick. I've had it a couple weeks, its been to one gig, and on a couple CJ demos, and otherwise in my (yes, you guessed it) smoke-free studio. (Chicago is now smoke-free so even the one gig was smoke-free if that's a big deal.) Has the latest updates, pedal, manuals, etc. When things return a little back to normal here, I will purchase another PC3...but maybe not an X depending on the feel and availability of the PC3. This is really a cool piece of gear. (So was the 96 Nissan with 50,000 miles I bought my son in January.)
Also: JBL 4208 monitors; mint condition, sound and look great. I will ship the JBLS and Kurzweil.
Not shipping: Paradise Audio Bass Cabinet (think SWR Henry 8x8) with 1x15" 500w McAwley and 2x10" Gauss and 1xSWR horn. Huge tone, and enormous power handling (1000watts full-range, or 500w x2 biamped (tens are in sealed compartment). It's gorgeous sounding, in perfect cosmetic shape, but too heavy to ship.
IF interested, hit me offlist; they'll go to ebay Monday.
I really like the idea of buying another car when gas has just $3.60 a gallon here.

Yeah, no kidding. Here's the best part: I came home from rehearsal to find what I thought was city streets n san dude working in that ditch/trench. When I turned the corner to pull into my garage, curiousity got the best of me: "why is the city working in that ditch at 11:30pm???" I go around the block to get a look and find a car on its side (which is why I only saw A light...the driver's side). I triple park in the intersection to see if I can help (without someone hitting me) and see the airbags have deployed, but so much smoke is in the car I can't tell if anyone is in it. I climb into the ditch, jump over the stream and back up the far side and get that driver's door open, and no one's inside, but car's still running and keys are in the ignition. As the smoke rushes out the open door, I'm thinking "man, looks like the inside of my kid's ca....NO!!!!! and I back up enough to read the license plate, and realize it is his car." At this point my wife is calling "why aren't you home yet?" And I'm like, "well, you're not going to believe this, I'm across the street" and she says get home NOW. I drive back home and he's in a panic, and freaking out big time. I apparently missed the accident by 2 minutes. Check to make sure he's okay, and tell him to just try to calm down, I gotta go back out there cuz....sure enough, now there's 4 squads, one blocking my driveway "U know that your car is in that ditch?" You could see how disappointed they were to find out neither myself nor my 17 year old was drunk, high, or otherwise impaired; they looked utterly depressed. Had to talk them out of 2 tickets for destruction of city property ("uh, WHAT destruction?" "the grass" "WHAT GRASS? in 20 years, this ditch has never been filled in, planted with seed, or sprayed for mosquitoes, had these dead trees pulled out of here, or even cleaned out even though we've attend every town hall meeting for the last 3 years to get it fixed. DO I need to call my alderman at midnite to get him here to straighten this out?" Got my son's license back, but took tow truck an hour to get it out. A freakn disaster. He fell asleep at the wheel after a week of 5am practices before school, and then clean-up after school trying to get their fields in shape for next week's game.
I couldn't make this stuff up. I couldn't even yell at him I was so glad he was alive. He has been altered by this one though.

If the worst thing that happened is that you have to move some stuff around to get him a new car, y'all are really lucky. But you knew that. Hopefully, he now knows the risks and will be a smarter driver for it. You know the line, "if you're feeling tired while driving, it's already too late" or something like that.
I'm glad everyone is alright and you handled the cops too. Good luck selling the gear.

Thanks Joe. You're absolutely right: we are so lucky on so many counts. Nothing else matters. The gear thing will take care of itself. T

Glad everyone is A-OK! That's the most important thing. What about having your son take the "L"?

I wish that were even an option for us....we don't have that kind of public transportation, and we need him to get his brother around too.
