Hi there! I’m new to this forum
I’ve come to review Garry Goodman’s Octave4plus A440 guitar strings, and to let the guitar community know that having fanned frets (multi-scale) are not the only way to go anymore for a high A. Hopefully this may open people’s eyes that owning 7 and 8+ strings does not always mean adding lower strings, and are only good for metal, Nu-metal, and ect.. But of course with an 8 string you can have the best of both worlds (extra low + extra high).
The guitar I’m reviewing his strings on is my 8 string 25.5” scale guitar that I built, tuned BEADGBEA (low to high). I have tried his .006, .007, and .008, each of course have their own feel but function the same. Now I have had the .007 on for about 2 months before I switched over to the .008, and it was still holding up! I even put it through a series of whole step bends and very fast alternate and tremolo picking and still no breakage, and it remained in tune. As the strings stretches over time you can even be able to perform 2 step bends. Now tension is not really an issue here, Garry’s strings are incredibly low tension, I had to switch from the .007 to the .008 because my .009 high E string had more tension and was harder to bend than Garry’s strings, which is odd, since normally tension goes up with pitch. He has a variety of ball ends as well, I`ve found the capped(clamping) version to be the best so far. Now his strings can be used with double locking tremolo systems and regular tremolo systems as well. He has his strings available for scale lengths up to 30" so far. These last a very long time and have been outliving my high E strings in some cases.
Here are other uses for his strings: 3 octave tuning for the 4x3 12-string bass and sub bass C5 all octave tuning for the 12-string electric guitar B string in octaves for regular electric 12-string guitar tuning E4 for the 36" scale bass guitar
Some advantages: More notes to play with Less position shifts Higher notes are achieved without having to move further down the fretboard Classical pieces such as certain Paganni’s caprices and most other violin, piano pieces are achievable. Less transcribing The pitch also works well when playing with falsetto vocalists I truly believe that Garry is really doing a great deed to all of us ERG/ERB players. I hope this review is informative and helpful, thanks.

Hey, any clips or vids featuring obvious use of these? That'd be nice...

Not at the moment, but in the near future, I will post some audio clips. I didn't think a video was necessary since the use's I listed were fairly self explanatory. But if there are any memebers here with an open mind towards extended range instruments, I could PM them with a video sometime if they want.

Oh no, I wasn't referring to you, but if you'd like I could list alot of reasonalbly priced 7 strings and 8 strings. I would like to mention Agile guitars is currently working on a neck through 8 string for less than $600.
