Hi,

I heard that square rooms got no good acustics.. I need your opinion, because my room is an square(14,76 ft x 14,25 ft), but one corner give the room a pentagon shape. Here you can see the room:

Room area: http://radioencarnacion.com/files/room1.JPG
Ceiling: http://radioencarnacion.com/files/room2.JPG
Corner (Picture): http://radioencarnacion.com/files/IMAG0004.JPG
Another corner (Picture): http://radioencarnacion.com/files/IMAG0007.JPG
Ceiling (Picture): http://radioencarnacion.com/files/IMAG0003.JPG
Another Picture 1: http://radioencarnacion.com/files/IMAG0002.JPG
Another Picture 2: http://radioencarnacion.com/files/IMAG0005.JPG
Another Picture 3: http://radioencarnacion.com/files/IMAG0006.JPG

As you can see in the pictures, the ceiling start at 14,43 ft and falls to 8,70 ft

I'm going to track and mix in the same room..

- Can you give me some advice on where to place my monitors for mix?.. I plan to place a QRD diffusor behind the listening position

- I got to put Absorbers at the windows and doors?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Chris

It's usually best to have the ceiling go higher toward the rear of the room, so that's how I'd set up your speakers. Then plan on as much bass trapping as possible, plus absorption at the reflection points.

Hi Ethan,

Thanks a lot for your answer! What you told me about the ceiling it's very truth because Some time ago I recorded a drum set on the lower ceiling side of the room and months later I recorded the same drum set but in the higher ceiling side of the room, and I noticed that the overheads (2 shure ksm44) sounded a lot much better in the lower ceiling side..

Now i'm going to buy a beringher ecm 8000 to do some room measurement..

thanks a lot!

Chris

It's my room too small for diffusion? I heard that diffusors makes a small room sound like a more big room.

Thanks,

Chris

Good diffusion costs more than good absorption, whether you buy pre-built or DIY. I imagine diffusion would be useful in a room that size, and only you can decide if it's worth the higher cost and/or effort.

Hi Ethan,

I'm from Paraguay and I got a lot of problems to find fiber like Owens Corning 703 but on the other side, wood in any kind it's very cheap and 1st quality, so I think I'll give it a try to do a QRD Diffusor for my room.

Thanks a lot for your advice Ethan!
