Hey all,

First, here is a rough idea of the size and shape of my room. Note the drawing is not done to scale.

I built what I call the "redneck" bass trap (because it's not much to look at) pictured below. Basically a 2'x4'x4" panel on a stand with bags of insulation filling in the gaps. The insulation is the kind made out of newspaper.

I'm also going to finish these corners with the redneck traps.

I have these going on to my right and left. Basically a 2'x4'x2" panel hanging on the wall.

I have this going on above my mix position. Basically a 2'x4'x2" panel.

And finally I have these going on right behind me. Basically 2 2'x4'x4" panels right next to eachother.

So basically, my questions are these:

1)Based on the photos what would you all suggest I add to this set up acoustically.

2)What would you all suggest I do above this weird area where the door is picture below.

Thanks for the help guys!

Anthony

I dunno, looks good to me.

Traps mounted flat on a wall or on a door near a corner work almost as well as straddling a corner. Whatever you can fit, cram it in!

Hey thanks Ethan! Your forum and websites have greatly helped me.

I just had one more question. I was thinking about building some 4" or 6" panels for that wierd corner by the door, however, do you think I could get away with opening up a couple of bags of that newspaper insulation that I used for my bass traps and fit it into a panel instead of the using the solid pieces of fiberglass?

I only ask because I can get those bags for $10 at my local Home Depot as opposed to ordering fiberglass online and paying shipping costs.

Thanks in advance!!

I never tested newspapers so I can't comment knowledgeably. But the key, as you know, is as much "insulation type stuff" as possible straddling or at least near corners.
