I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and what to do about it. My signal path goes from guitar to an Alesis Midiverb4 and then into my M-Audio 1814 interface and then to the computer. When the guitar is plugged in I have great radio reception- not so great for recording-useless. Unplug and all is quite, relatively speaking. Does anyone know of any solutions for this?

Brad,

There are lots of solutions the most common of which is shielding; everything from cord selection to guitar body cavities to room Faraday cages. You'd be better served if you take this guestion and re-post in the Guitar forum. At the very top of the forum is a 'sticky' thread called "Ask Myles". Go to the last page and enter the question as a reply. Bet he can help. Be sure to include the type of guitar.

Best, Paul

What type of guitar and what type of pickups?

Have you tired removing one piece out of the chain at a time and seeing if you can narrow it down. It may not be the guitar....?

Also...how close are you to the computer/monitor with your guitar?

Brad,

I took a look at the Trinity system http://www.kksound.com/trinitywestern.html , and for that kind of money it should have(an looks like it does have) a well shielded system.

If you can, and depending on which unit you have, try unpluging the transducers and mic one at a time to try to isolate which is the cause. If that doesn't give you an answer, try a really heavily shielded cord to the reverb. Use cords with jacks that have heavy metal covers. Same from the reverb to the interface.

If none of these things help, I'm guessing you might live close to a radio transmitter. That's always a problem. Then there's always KK tech support.

Best, Paul
