I see that Keyboard and EQ are now available on-line. The software works well, and I can read them like a physical magazine. You can even save the mag (that way I can still read it on the train!).
Is BP headed this way? What does this mean for subscriptions? for advertising? When does the format of the magazine start to take advantage of computer capabilities? How much will your off-shore subscribers love this ? (lots, I'll bet) What else can you say about this ??
Thanks Tom

I was helping my daughter make a collage for a school project. I figured I could get some virtual pics from the online Keyboard magazine. It's really hard to cut those pictures off of your monitor screen with just a pair of scissors.

If BP were to go online only, I'd be a little disappointed, because I like being able to take the issue with me into work (no surfing allowed, so it's got to be in print), and when learning form the sheet music/tabs I prefer to read from print rather thatn off the computer screen, again I can bring the magazine anywhere. Added online content for subscribers is a good idea. I also subscribe to Finescale Modeller in print, and I can also use my subscriber ID to get additional content online. That's a good incentive to still get hard copy issues.
I also save back issues of both magazines, though everytime I move I wish they were all digitized onto one CD.

Hey guys,
I don't have many concrete answers on this (it's more of a circulation department thing than a web department thing), but I believe there are plans to roll out a digital edition of Bass Player at some point down the road.
The digital editions are essentially created from the same files that are used to print the magazine, with some "hot" elements thrown in -- e.g. video, links, clickable ads, etc. -- to fit the online medium.
The digital editions will NOT replace the printed version of the magazine, nor will they supplant the BP.com site. But as Tom so astutely pointed out, it's a big boon for us when it comes to international subscribers (costs for shipping print overseas are getting beastly), and it offers a little extra to advertising clients... who are not (not yet, anyway) being charged any extra, as far as I know (though I may be wrong there, depending on what the clients want out of it.)
If more info comes down from on high regarding the digital editions, I'll try to keep y'all posted.
Cheers.
