Interesting how they have exactly 5 gals and 5 dudes in the Top 10. I do think they had a misstep with 2 weeks of Beatles. I love the Beatles and all that, but these kids are not familiar like they need to be and making a mess of songs.
David Cook is my current favorite and still liking Brooke.

I think this year's group is 100% more talented than last year's bunch, but not very versatile. David Cook is very good, but can only sing emo rock, David A is great at wimpy ballads and nothing else, Brooke is not a particularly strong vocalist, but is "pleasant." Parcheeze is too much like Ruben in his vocalisms, Jason Dreadlocks is too bland, Carly is probably the best female vocalist although she hacked Blackbird. I'm not seein a clear cut winner here. Simon is right on in his evaluations, although quite caustic.

If they did Stones songs it would great. I am not sure why anyone did not pick "It's Getting Better" by the Beatles.

I really don't think we'll find out who these kids really are as singers/performers until we get out of this ridiculous Beatles mode and onto more familiar territory for these kids.
Lets face it, the Beatles are fine for you and me, or any proffesional more seasoned musician, but these kids don't have the 1st clue about these tunes or how they should/could be arranged to benefit them.

I was actually surprised that Carly was in the bottom 3. and that Country Bint stayed over Skunk Girl. I think David Cook is a front runner. He actually admitted that he used the Whitesnake cover of Day Tripper, and he's been a working musician prior to his audition. Experience might bring him to the top.
When Syesha and Ramiele came on, my wife's comment on both was "She's got to go."

I also find it interesting how they're all pretty good looking, especially the girls. I have a feeling that's what's kept Kristy hanging on these last few times. Even Amanda was much nicer to look at than she was to hear. Where are all the ugly singers?
hmmm...

A weak night for the girls. I can see Kristy, Ramielle, Carly in the bottom 3 or maybe David A's wierd choice of song "I am the Voice".

I did not like the Queen song at all. He sang it like Queen but without the high notes. On the other hand, the Michael Jackson song, really nice twist with an ending that took the show.

I agree about the Queen song. I kept waiting for his voice to crack or for him to miss a note. Didn't feel comfortable at all. I felt like I was watching NASCAR. Just waiting for a wreck to happen.
David Cook keeps surprising me. He is definitely the front runner but I feel like he came from no where. In the beginning, I barely noticed him, didn't think he was strong at all. Now it seems like he can do no wrong.
There's something about Kristy. Maybe it's just her girl next door looks, but I think she's a better singer that we all think. I think she's followed some bad advice & picked a poor choice of songs. She was certainly better than Skunk girl & I don't think she'll leave this week. I think Ramielle's toast.

David Cook has risen to the top for me. When David Archuleta sang Imagine in one of those early weeks, I thought he'd be the winner, but he's fallen from that, and while still good, he might be a year or two young to make a run at some of the more seasoned musicians.
I see Eric that you like Brooke. She's ok, but for me she's too vanilla. I did also like Michael Johns singing We Are The Champions. He did a very good job with that. No one can sing like Freddy Mercury, so it's brave to try, but he still did a great job.
I think Chickeze is gone this week.

My wife actually admired Michael Johns for knowing his limitations and not trying to hit notes he knew he coudn't hit.
I was really surprised when none of the judges used the word "Karaoke" with Kristy. Not bad, but she was counting on patriotism too much. How can anyone say anything about a song about the USA?
David Archuleta has lowered a bit in my opinion. good, but he's relying on the cute factor too much.
I think they gave Chickeze too hard a time. Sure, he was old school R&B, but what's wrong with that. I thought he did a much better job than Ramiele or Sayesha.
Carly is looking scared. Her song choice has been ridiculed too many times, and she's afraid to take any chances. Last night her arrangement was too much like the original.
Brooke and Jason - OK, but nothing to write home about. Brooke just needs a little more confidence, and Jason just needs.....Ok he'll be gone soon.
David Cook - the only real musician of the bunch. The guy is constantly pushing the edge, and I can see him having a sucessful career. It took a while for my wife to recognize his song choice, and when she did, she (an I) were totally blown away. Guy's definately a front runner.
My wife commented that Paula was a bit more coherent and more on the spot with her comments last night. Must have changed her medication.

I am 100% in agreement with this post on every point. I did actually think Chickeze did a decent job with that song, but the voters have really seemed to go along the lines of what the judges have been saying lately, so I think he's in big trouble this week.

True. I guess we could add that and then people would be hammered after about the second contestant.

I didn't even recognize "Billie Jean" until half way through the song. My problem with David Cook is that he is one-dimensional. Yes, he has his own defined style, probably more than the others, but it is very limited. Emo Rock and that is all. He couldn't sing that song in a disco style to save his life, and I don't think that he could do a straight up ballad either. Still, he is probably the best of the bunch right now.
Brooke is very pleasant, but unsure of who she is.
I give David Anchovy credit for not doing a ballad and doing something up tempo. I think that because no one knew the song, they had no framework to judge him correctly. And that is the fault of the judges. Perhaps the judges should be told in advance what songs the finalists will be singing so that they are prepared. Instead, the judges look like the ones with "Ls" on their heads.
Way to go, Kristy Lee! She just needed to be waving a flag! I can now see why this girl made the top ten.
My prediction for tonight's bottom three: Jason, Parcheezy and Ramielle.

I predict bottom three to be Jason, Chickeze, and Carly. Carly has a great voice, but I don't think she's connected with the voters. She still has that Irish accent, so some don't think of her as American, and a lot of the voters are women over age 50. I don't think all of them like her tattoos or those of her husband. Plus, she didn't do a great job this last time -- good, but not great.

I thought Ramielle, Jason, and Chikeze were the weakest ones last night. I'd like to see Jason stay a while longer. I also really like Syesha's personality a lot but her singing isn't good enough to keep her in too much longer. I thought David Cook was fantastic last night, the best of the night by a mile.\
I think either Ramielle or Chikeze will go home tonight.

I'm inclined to agree, however if he pulls one of those you mentioned out of his hat in the final 4 as a surprize, and does it well, then he wins the whole thing!

Tonight's show was kind of a sleeper until Michael Johns came out with the Queen stuff. I'm still liking David Cook. Not sure about the Kristy Lee song...we ran that tune into the GROUND in high school and then I've watched subsequent generations of high schoolers doing that number. A patriotic song, but formulaic and tired. On the gear-spotting side of the house, they showed a very close shot on the XS8 and pretty sure it was a factory preset being used! Shame, shame, shame.
I tried to make out what that patch was, but it was too quick on the screen to tell.
There's nothing wrong with using a factory pre-set if its a good sound and is the one you want.
As for Kristi Lee, she was "pitchy" to say the least. But it was a smart song choice for her because she knows she has a loyal fan base that is partial to country music and very patriotic. She wants to get out of the bottom three. If she lands there again, she's probably done...not that there's anything wrong with that...its either her or Ramiele, I think.

David Cook took last night by a mile... although I missed the first three, what I saw of them at the end didn't grab me. I must say this is still the best group of singers yet on AI.
I think it will be Ramiele going too.

Agree. I think Cook is clearly putting distance between him and rest of the pack. The australian guy is good, but he is hit and miss. Two of the early favorites, Carly and David ArchiWeasel are fading quickly.

I think David the younger will be around for a while. He's getting all the Cuteness votes that kept Sanjaya around way past his prime, but he's got a better voice, so he'll get some votes on talent alone.
I think America got it wrong. Chi-Cheezy should still be there, and Country Bint needed to leave, or possibly Ramielle. Dreadlock boy was correct in thinking he was in trouble, though.

Again you are correct. I knew Chikeze was gone though (correctly called it earlier in this thread). He's better than Ramiele and Kristy Lee Cook for sure -- he just picked the wrong song and style last week -- he even sang it well. Dreadlock boy is a tough one -- I really liked the job he did the first time he pulled out the guitar, but then I didn't think his version of Hallelujah was as great as the judges did, and all the other times were mediocre. Kristy Lee Cook is getting the southern vote, and she has that all to herself. Hopefully she is gone soon, because others are more deserving.

Hello Dolly! I think Dolly Parton was a great mentor for these "kids" and for the most part, the "kids" sang her songs reasonably well. Much better than the hack jobs they did on the Beatles catalog.
Bottom Three predictions: Jason, Kristy Lee and Ramiele. Either Jason or Ramiele will be "Celebrated Home."

Sounds like a good prediction for bottom three.
I think the performance of the night was by Michael Johns. I DVRd it and played it back a few times. That guy did a great job on that song, and with such a bluesy feel to it -- hard to believe that was a Dolly Parton song.
David Cook was great again, and David Archuleta was pretty good (but not as good as the judges said), and Carly was pretty damn good too (Simon is wrong about her). Syesha is pretty good, but she's boring -- I've seen all she has to offer before, and Randy and Simon were right about not trying to tackle a song that Whitney Houston has sung, because you can't do it as well.
My pick is for Ramiele to be gone this week.

I told my wife that the only thing I would have changed with Michael John's arrangement was to add a gospel Hammond.
I though Sayesha did a nice job, but she should have kept the delicate tone in the chorus that she used in the first chorus, rather than going all Whitney. It would have kept the comparisons out. You'd think by now they'd figure out that doing anything like Whitney did it is going to bring about a bad comparison and criticism.
Jason sounded better than normal, and actually had some emotion in the performance. Carly did a nice job too. And David, There's another one to download to Cheryl's iPod.
I think Ramiele is gone. Or maybe Kristy. Here was a week tailored for her style, and she did nothing with it. Get her outta there.

I think bottom 3 this week will be Ramiele, Jason and Syesha.
I'm still favoring David Cook and also become more of a fan of the guy with Aussie accent (forgot his name), who I've liked all along but has been getting even better. I do like the Irish accent chick as well but think she needs to notch up her appearance (similar to Simon's feedback). Not sure if America would crown either of them as idols?
I think KL Cook will hang around a bit longer as the Heartland Chick, thriving on good looks and country sensibilities.
