For Ethan Winer:
I'm about to build a 3 car garage (20' x 30' with 15 ft. peak). I have to adhere to District specs for the basic garage but plan to make it soundproof . Point is I can't create non-parallel walls etc. I have read your terrific expose on Acoustic treatment (diffusors, bass traps etc.) However, can you recommend the best procedure for a 20' x 30' space (not planning on a control room at the moment) in that I have the flexibility to create whatever is best.
Thanks.

Colin,

That's too much of an open ended question to answer with less than one week's worth of writing. \:D I can say that parallel walls are not a problem, as long as you treat them to avoid flutter echo. The larger the space, the less problem you'll have with flutter echo anyway. So having that much space is a Good Thing.

If you have specific questions that's the best way to get advice.

as Ethan points out, more info is good... like what are your needs? a control room? isolation booths? how much isolation do you need? workflow, access, equipment, commercial vs private all make differences in how you approach things.
