In the past I have used ns10 m's and used beyer dynamic dt 770 to figure out what is happening in the low end.
I have now purchased the quested 2107 monitors and am deal with the the axial modes of the room.

I have a room that is 10 x 10 x 8 ft ceiling.
I opened up the closet (5 ft wide in the middle of the room) which makes the length of the room 13 ft.

My monitors are 7 ft away from each other are about 2 ft from the front wall and side walls.

here is the front of the room where the ns10's are and then to the sides are the 2107's. You will see the GIK's in the corner and an office divider with 4inches of 703 in front of it and behind the ns10's

At the reflection points I have 2 bass traps that are 6 inches of 703 and are 4 inches off of the wall.

Back of the room I have a bunch of Leonard bass traps along the ceiling and sides of the wall and a broad band bass trap in each corner which has to be flush with the wall rather than in the corner so that I can leave. (the other side is a window so I could put in a tri corner trap of some sort.

Listening position on back I have a ceiling cloud with foam and behind it 2 inches of 703. hanging 2 inches off of the ceiling. The wood that you see is latice which i used to hold the 703 and then glue the foam onto.

The back of the room has a couch, with 2 inches of 703 about 1 ft off of the wall ( a tall office space divider) I am thinking I can make the last foot of the closet into a bass trap - but for the frequency I need to get rid of I dont think 1 ft of 703 will do anything. I think my main issue is the room modes which are only improved slightly by opening up the closet.

Ok last thing to describe. I set up the studio so that I can easily move listening positions f ns10m listening positions is 38% from the front wall. Then i have a back listening position since I can not be 3 ft away from my 2107. So I am at the back listening position when i use those. I set my monitors and keyboard up so they are movable.

Helmholtz resonator ?
I can not move the studio to a different room at the moment, If I use EQ I can make it somewhat even, but in all honesty everything then sounds really boring.

Thank you for all your time
John

John,

The problem with your pictures is they don't show anything about the room. All I see are close-ups of purple foam wedges and cut-off images.

My best suggestion is to avoid tuned bass traps, and follow the advice in the Forum FAQ to use broadband bass traps and absorption at the first reflection points.

If you can post better photos I'll be glad to have a look. But really, a 10 by 10 by 8 room is pretty standard and I know what that looks like. \:D

Hi Ethan

I will continue to add more broad band bass traps.

I redid the post so it is only a link to the photos.

I think this photo shows the front of the room well, and then the next link shows the room layout.

I have read through the FAQ, I will go through them again though incase I missed something. My overall approach has been you can not have to many bass traps (high frequency yes but bass traps no)

Thank you for your time.

That's a little better. \:D

This comes up all the time, and sometimes I get a bit cranky when people email me or post close-up photos showing their monitor's tweeter, but nothing is in context so it's impossible to see what is where in the room. In forum posts, huge pictures are difficult for anyone to see.

Anyway, it sound like you understand the basics - as many bass traps as you can manage, and first reflection treatment.
