I'm new to the forum and would like to ask a MILLION questions!! But this time I'll only ask one - Can wool material be used in place of burlap to cover do-it-yourself fiberglass acoustic panels? Everyone recommends burlap but it is ugly (in my feminine opinion). It seems logical that wool would have some acoustic properties of its own which would add to that of the fiberglass. Also I'd imagine that it would be a better trap for any of the dust that might come off the panels. But will it compromise the effectiveness of the panels. I don't want to compromise sound for visual. Also I know that wool is more expensive but if that's the consideration then the added expense will be worth it for me, anyway.

Pretty much any soft fabric is fine. And you are correct that if you use a fabric like wool that absorbs a little more on its own, that's probably even better. The only type fabrics you should avoid are dense shiny materials like silk and synthetic equivalents.

Thanks, Ethan. It's good to know that I can use wool fabric without compromising on the acoustics. My son is the musician and the panels are for his practice studio. But I feel about the visual end of things the way he feels about getting the perfect chord. I am going to have a lot of fun with this.

Great, and you're most welcome to post progress photos here, or ask any follow-up questions.
