WOW that's cool. Come to think of it there are a lot of sound impact phones in True Value Hardware stores too. Use a set of these head phones for power hammers used for shooting nails into concrete.

This guy was thinking.

This idea isn't new... I've used ear buds and covered my ears with the shooters phones, same idea, no work. The particular pieces/parts that he picked worked very nicely though.

Started with 23db of reduction, then stuck the elcheapo headphone speakers (sans the housing that is part of the speaker tuning) into the NR hps, why do I think the NR rating went down significantly. The air gap is part of the NR function, filling it with the elcheapo speaker is going to lessen the phones effectiveness. Then add in the volume of whatever you're listening, and what's the point.

A modest pair of ear buds will accomplish the same or better, sound better, and take up no space.

My Shure 122's isolate extremely well, and sound amazing.
