I borrowed a scanner.

Apologies for the self-indulgence.

I made this for a family gathering in Northern California, it played really nice.

My first gig with the African band (early 90s)

80s look!

Jazz gig

African band again

Well, how did you look in the 80s?!

My backyard, before the garden grew

That was a charity thing in an Oxfam store in Drury Lane when we played for donations to Oxfam.

Bad hair day! (Late 80s)

My old Westone fretless

I do hope nobody's still on dial-up!

Dig that FlockOfSeagulls thing you had there Phil.
If I could find any old shots I doubt I would post them. The permed hair and Angel Flights seem a bit silly these days.
I do remember one (horribly, horribly vivid) of me playing a white Kramer 4 string with a greek fishermans cap, sleeveless tattered AC/DC shirt, black spandex pants cut off at the knees with tight pink shorts over them and lime green Converse high tops. Truly a fashion icon.

Nice photos. (I think it's just an excuse to post pictures of your Wal, but that's just me ;\) )

I would post some 'old' photos, but they won't be classified as old for another 20 or so years. I will post them then.

Its not really that old, (5-6 years?) but I certainly do not look like that anymore... I do miss the hair.
The other pic isn't exactly a Bass but it is a big fish, and lots older... so I thought I'd throw it in:

Oh my. \:D

I need to try and find some pictures of me playing in my heavy metal country rap band in the mid 90's... it was a... uhh... "interesting" time. Ridiculous hats and all.

You asked for it... oh god...

Me with Weird Al backstage at the CD release party for '668: The Neighbor of the Beast'. He and his drummer flew up to Seattle for the show and didn't tell us before hand. Good times. And I'm an idiot.

A band shot from some night... That's Dan Tyak on pedal steel guitar who was way over qualified to be playing with our dumb asses. I think this was at the OK Hotel which is now gone and was the coffee shop that everyone hung out at in the movie "Singles" though they never showed the stage area in the movie. I'm playing a Spector NS5XL... I miss that bass.

The whole band with Al and John Schwartz (his drummer)

Wearing a big dumb hat and playing the first ever Peavey B-Quad 5 bass in existence. It didn't even have a serial number because it litterally was a prototype that they sent to Brian Bromberg and I wound up buying it. Nice bass even though the low B did sound like poo.

Playing at the Gorge at George as the opening act for Lynryd Skynryd, Kenny Wayne Sheppard, and Paul Rogers.

Those pictures are all mid to late 90's. Thank you for this very sad trip down hazy memory lane.

This is a neat thread.

I just fixed some of my photos that got their aspect ratio squashed by imagecave so refresh the page and they should come out fine.

These old Westones are vastly under-rated.

Here's mine - a Thunder III Edition 2.

The neck pup is actually a P-type pickup in a humbucking-looking case (determined by tapping....), and the bridge pup is a proper double-spool humbucker (also determined by tapping).

There is a switch which puts BOTH pups in either Parallel (up) or Series (down) modes.

The second switch is active/passive.

The knobs are: Vol (push/pull - in/out phase), passive treble roll-off, and the active tone control, bass boost below centre detent and mids/treble above.

All in all a very versatile bass.

..guessed I´d put one of me with the world-famous Fender "The Computer" P-Bass, back in 1991. \:D

It was some kind of a monster. Mid-70s Fender "P", two output jacks (Never tried them together, though.. had it for a very little time and despite how friggin´heavy it was, I miss it up to this day!) a DiMarzio P, a Yamaha (I guessed) J, brass nut, and 5 microswitches for the most diverse settings (in/out phase, P/ on-off, and some strange kind of Boosting for the P.. never looked under the hood... pity me...). I Miss it...

Playing keyboards for a blues band, in a VFW hall, Halloween circa 1987. We opened for 2 very popular Chicago blues bands. I had just gotten 6" of hair sut off the day before.
The guitar player now plays with the remaining members of Big Brother and the Holding Company.
The drummer is now a nuclear physicist who has an armed guard with him 24/7.
The bass player is, to this day, trying to remove the stick up his ass...I mean, who DOESN'T dress up for a Halloween gig??

Please note my most excellent Rickenbacker bass amp I'm using for the Juno 106. By the way, I was later beaten with that wicker barstool to my immediate left. It was quite a party.

Video shoot, 1995
Second day of owning this bass, 5th day of playing bass.
