I have some questions regarding acoustic treatment, as per seen by your article, you are very well informed on the subject. My 2 questions are -

what are your suggestions on treatment, for elelctrical outlets?

How do you feel about the product. QUIETROCK, which is currently being used by SNoop Dogg & Ozzy Osbourne?

hi,

regarding the outlets:
i've just built my own recording studio and i faced the outlet issue myself. Since i live in a residential building it was imperative to build a floating room with double drywall walls with led shits between the two layers, everything was sealed with cocking to make the room airtight.
Since i didn't want to compromise this air proof barrier by pocking holes in the walls to install outlets i went with surface mounted ducts and outlet boxes, some for electrical and some for audio.
An additional advantage of this configuration is that the ducts can be open very easily for check up or reconfiguration.

I also installed a bunch of air like duct under the double floor (the ones usually used in kitchens to route the air from the stove vent to the outside, rectangular section 2" high and 20" wide) between the insonorization floor and the finishing floor to route most of the audio wires, like the snake going to the recording room, speaker cables, computer data cables, ecc.
This solution gave me an extremely clean look with not one wire in site \:D

Hope this was helpful

I don't know anything about quietrock \:\( sorry

Cez

Here is the detail of the outlet:

I'm in Italy so what u see is 2 electric plugs in the silver frame.
Notice that below there is a midi plug that is then routed to the PC.

The following picture shows the duct and an other box (only electrical, no midi)

You can also see the variable angle corner piece that will fit on pretty much any degree angle.
By removing the white plastic covers you'll uncover the duct (that i glued to the wall to avoid holes) and u'll be able to reconfigure or add wires to the system.

The next pic is a little crowded but it shows the inside of the computers closet. There are 2 round holes on the right. those connect, respectively from left to right, to the workstation in the center of the room and to the other closet where power amps and other stuff is stored.
They run under the floor.
You can also see the aluminum tube that brings fresh air into the computer closet, an other one (not shown) takes out 300 cubic meters of air every hour to keep the equipment cool. The entire inside of the closet is also covered with pyramid foam to muffle the noice of the computers (doors included, doing it today \:\) )

Electrical outlets don't need acoustic treatment if that's what you're asking.

I'm not an isolation expert but my understanding is that using green glue with regular drywall is better and less expensive than QuietRock.
