I have a nice little set up that sounds good and is really clear but too much of a live sound not the annoying live sound but just live sound i have a presonus by eureka which is a pre amp compressor and eq all in one and i have a firewire solo m-audio and i record with acid 6.0. Im trying to find out how to get that warm sound can somebody please help me with that.

You need to treat the room with diffusers to absorb the mid/hi reflections. Check in over at Ethan's forum.

Agreed with AR - sounds like you've got too much room "reverb" - that's what's giving you a "live" sound - the room is reflecting everything.

Buying a new preamp won't solve your problem. Investing intelligently in room treatment will.

(edit) - oh - and definitely stop next door at Ethan's forum for advice on how to intelligently treat your room. Be prepared with room dimensions (H W and L), shape, and budget.
