hello and ty in advance for any help rendered. I have a room in my basement,(2 actually)but lets start with the room I will record from. It is 13x13 x 7.5 height. because of an adjacent closet the length of the room is 3 feet longer on one end than on the other. the cutout ill call it is 3x7'.that is in addition to the 13x13 btw. Basically the shape of the state of Oklahoma for the sake of understanding. I have 2 walls that are precast concrete. 1 length, 1 width both of these walls have 2x4's framed in front of them for drywall maybe? the other walls are not up yet but are framed 2x4's most of which has the yellow insulation in between the studs. I have a poured concrete floor. I am trying to get the most bang for my buck as i am on a budget. my control room is seperate and to be discussed later. so I guess my questions are as follows. 1> drywall?masonite? 2> drop ceiling tiles? 3>should i square up the room making it 13x13 even?or cut into the room at an angle and make a drum booth?leaving the room with 3-90 degree corners and 2- 45? 4> I have off the next 2 1\2 months but not on a big budget.is their a room scaler program to help in this process? 5> i have ossiliscopes and spectum analyzers and mikes somehow this is relevant...right? heheh
For starters, the essentially square room combined with a low ceiling is never going to be anything but trouble. I'd think about making the 3x7 bit and part of the 13x13 room some sort of iso or small control room, to eliminiate the square room factor.
