I mean, can you imagine it... "Well, Eddie, did you guys screw up out there?" I'm sure it's not good for the image, especially with what tickets can cost.
And even if Eddie says the video's a hoax, there'll always be small-time conspiracy buffs who will say he's lying. That's assuming he even remembers: it's one gig among so many.
And if he laughs it off and says that yes, the techs screwed up and the band was caught on the hop, what does that prove anyway? That sometimes things go wrong? It's hardly breaking news, is it?
It'd be interesting to have an article on famous guitarists' "war stories" (including EVH speaking about that video), but I'd rather read more gear reviews and profiles and lessons, and leave that "ain't it cool to be a rockstar" junk to the other guitar mags.
Just a quick update. I spoke with Ed's guitar tech before the Oakland show, just before Christmas. He told me that Ed was handed a guitar that was improperly tuned. And, apparently, no one was fired!!

It doesn't clear evertything up but there's a commentary (accessable by clicking some text below the vid window) at the original site that offers several salient points for consideration.
