Francis Preve may be a nice fellow and all, and maybe a top notch programmer. But I have to question your choice in letting someone who's admittedly a soft-synth guy review the very high-profile Prophet 08 in such a celebrated periodical.His review comes from the sensibilities of soft-synth programmer, and his review is dotted with statements which reflect that. Of course, this is not the worst thing in the world, a lot of your subscribers are younger, not knowing of a world without computer driven synths. But, the Prophet is one of those rare releases in our undustry, that caries with it a lot of pedigree and street cred'- things best left to a seasoned reviewer to more accurately qualify.
I have read other reviews posted by actual users, some of which I know personally and respect, and have read nothing about the Prophet 08 which makes me want to buy one citing its sound is anemic, programming annoying, and the quality of the unit's materials are very cheap. So maybe a lesser qualifed reviewer with less lineage was pulled in to be the fall guy.

Hey Keith,

Thanks for the note. I think Francis would be delighted to be lumped in with our younger readers. The fact is, he's an analog synth guy from the way back, and while he's been obsessed with the developments in the soft synth world in recent years, his studio has been full of cool analog synths at various times over the years. He is in fact an actual user. Have you heard a Prophet yourself in person yet?
