So, as those of you who follow the soap opera of my musical career know, my band split up a few months ago. Instead of running out to find a new band, I've gotten into performing as a solo singer/songwriter, on acoustic guitar, harmonica and vocals.

The interesting thing, epecially with this being a band forum, is that gigging as a one-man act really feels no differently than doing it wth other people, with two exceptions.

1. I don't have to worry about anyone but myself. No stressing because the drummer is late, or the bass player's amp is going out. It's rather nice that way.

2. It's kinda lonely! You finish a gig and have no one to turn around to and say, "Hey, the intro to that tune was really good!", or "What happened on the solo of Song X?".

But other than that, it's all very much the same. You book a show, you get your gear there, you play, you (hopefully) get paid, you leave. I am, however, finding that I'm really looking forward to the next time I can just jam with some other musicians. \:\)

I'm kinda digging the freedom that one finds with no attachments. Musically, anyway. \:\)

So no... no turntablist (though I have really enjoyed playing with one, and will again sometime).

We're on different cycles, Jeff. I was doing singer/songwriter when you were in a band, and now that I'm in a band you're doing singer/songwriter.

I got lucky and found some great musicians when I wasn't looking for them too hard. Maybe the same will happen to you? (Hopefully not at the expense of my band breaking up! )

Enjoy the solo thing. I know Tedster liked it last time he chatted here, which was ages ago.
