I'm not talking about the song by Frank Zappa which Steve Vai transcribed and which led to him be hired by Frank.
I'm talking about articles with white type on black pages. They are very, very hard for me to read. I can't be the only one.
In the September issue, I am talking specifically about p.19, p.24, and especially p.49 which was virtually unreadable for me. P. 56 and P.60 used a bigger font, so I could read those.
p.33 and p.95 had grey backgrounds which were not too bad, but not so wonderful, either.
There were also numerous ads with white text on black or very dark backgrounds.
This must be the new rage in page design, but it's not helping me a whole lot.

Page 49 was very hard to read - the small font on black.

If that was the first page of the Jonas Hellborg article, I agree. The font was awfully small. However, all the other pages Jeremy mentioned, I didn't have any problems reading.

+1 on J.C.'s "ditch the white ink on black background" thing. Remember,we're reading this stuff on the loo and the lighting isn't so great in that room.
And yes, my bifocals are just right....
Peace Paul K

Hmm, I think bifocals have a part on it. Why not use black background for Hard Core Metal and such? The younger readers might not complain :-)

Bifocals?
I wear tri-focals!
I like Michele's suggestion. The louder the band, the blacker the page!

Yes indeed - a black background with a blood red subliminal devil tile pattern.
The metal dudes would be drawn like insects to the primordial fires.
Plus dont they just look at the pictures anyway?
More pictures and less words, dont alienate the metal demographic.
Sincerely, a recovering metal dude.
