Who's got 'em, who likes 'em, who hates 'em?

I'm looking at expanding my PA. I play mostly duo/trio/quartet dinner jazz/pop, rarely with a drummer.

Currently I use a Yorkville powered mixer:

and two small full range cabinets:

I also have some outboard gear that I use with taste and discretion as the situation requires.

We are now playing some large enough events that some light monitoring would be nice. I have a couple of choices.

I can upgrade the complete mains to a powered sub/full range on a stick combination, and relegate my current mains to wedge status, or I can add a powered sub to my current mains, and get something small, like a Hotspot for monitors.

Don't worry about power or patching, I can handle that. I've got no first hand or second hand input on the Galaxy products.

Thoughts?

Used 'em for years. They took up little space, sat beneath my mic, and worked really well for my monitor mix of the band, for the most part - enough though.

They are inexpensive, and tough. I dropped mine a few times over the years, without a glitch.

In all, if I hadn't gone to IEM, I would probably still be using them (had 2 off-axis, better spread for the L-shaped rig I have).

YMMV

We used a single Hotspot for my drummer. It worked really well for that purpose, since he needed the monitor to be raised to hear it (a floor wedge wasn't doing the trick at all).

The sound quality isn't fabulous, but it does what it needs to do, and does it well. In fact, the accentuated midrange actually helps the vocals be more intelligible, which as a drummer's monitor is exactly what we needed.

For the kinds of gigs you are doing they are great! They are just too directional and under powered for rock use.
