Here are some links to photos of my new office/studio space, a work in progress....

Office/Studio Photos (PDF)

Office/Studio-Floorplan.pdf

The shape and layout was defined before we found the house so I'm trying to make the best of it and decide the best way to use the space. Thought I would share what I've been up to. More photos as things progress. Later, S. \:\)

Looks like you have the makings of a comfortable studio space.

Drop tile ceiling? That could make for some interesting vibrations.....

Yeah, I can hear those things rattling already! I'll probably lay in some 6" insulation batts up there to help with that, and provide some LF trapping. I'll be spending some time on Ethan Winer's acoustics forum for some info on that. Trying to keep the permanent room modifications to a bare minimum presents lots of challenges and tradeoffs. More photos to follow soon. Thanks. S. \:\)

I doubt 6" of insulation is going to do much to keep them from rattling, since they are suspended on wire. If you don't need to get access above the ceiling, I'd suggest considering a more sound alternative.

I need the access above the ceiling ... and I will probably do some trapping up there. My previous studio had a drop ceiling like this and it worked out fine for what I do. Thanks for the input AR. S.

You can always make access panels (that are screwed into place) where you need, and the framing around them helps to break up the otherwise flat reflective surface as well.
