You know, for band members seeking members, gig announcements, all that jazz?
Anyone mortally opposed to Stickies on top of the forum? Speak now or forever hold your piece. I mean, peace.

I'm not against it Jeff. It is a Band Forum and I think it will increase the activity here and help increase the community size. But if is a matter of life and death (mortally opposed) I'll take life

I'm with Trill. We could use some more activity here, and I am confident that we could get more involvement. LET'S GO PEOPLE, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!

Stick(ie) it to us, Jeff!
Here's one to start you off:
MUSICIANS WANTED! This is the most awesome and serious band ever! Gigs pending and looming recording contract. Looking for serious musicians on all instruments. Age not a factor. Looking for beginner to pro players, as long as you're serious. If your grandpa just started playing spoons, we need him now! We play whatever style/genre you play. Seriously! Practice 4 times a week on rotating basis between Mercury and Pluto; gig 3 nights a week. Serious inquiries only; we're serious!

Well, I must have missed that the first time around. Jay, I hope things are going as well as could be expected for you over there, and wish you the best.

So, back on topic, I've put some stickies back up... they don't seem to be too annoying up there.
Post your gigs! Seek some musicians! Read the rules! Or at least pretend to read the rules. C'mon folks, humor me.

OT - Jeff, yes, I really am in Iraq, just outside a town called Balad. I am a construction manager, working on the Iraqi Reconstruction Project.
My observations - many Iraqis are more fed up with the crap here (violence) than we are. More Iraqis are being killed by the insurgents than we are, and there are so many refugees fleeing for their very lives. This is causing a strain on some of the neighboring countries (Syria, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Kurdistan, Turkey, etc).
As with most cultures, there are more decent people than those I would normally refer to as "targets" (if you need this explained, please PM me). The subcontractor I have working for me is only 28, and is one of the most insightful men I have ever met, anywhere. I have learned a lot about his country and what the issues are, what it would take to fix it, and the general attitude of the people as a whole. On the whole, he shows no hope for his nation's future. When we are finished with the projects he is working for us he intends to get his family and leave for good. He has money and properties in several countries, and he is making his move slowly so as not to attract attention. He is a good man, and this country is a better place with him here, and it is sad that he sees no future except escape.
My $0.02. This is the stuff you probably won't see on MSNBC, CNN, Fox...
BTW, I survived an IED hit on the vehicle I was riding in on March 23rd. My truck got hit broadside by a 155mm shell, and it put quite a few VERY large holes in it. Fortunately, the company paid the money for fully armored vehicles, and all the pieces were stopped on the outside, and we all lived to tell the tale. I still have hearing issues on my right side, but they say this should clear up soon. Pictures are available. Just PM. Needless to say, the company that did the armor got a really nice email, and an offer for dinner, should our paths ever cross.

Jay, I really admire what you're doing. Again, without getting into the politics, I really respect anyone with moral convictions and the balls to put one's life on the line to hold those convictions up.
I know there's not much more you could be doing to stay safe that you're not already doing, but keep your eyes open. We'd like to have you back here posting when the whole thing is over, hopefully sooner than later.

Thanks for the kind words Jeff. I promised my wife I would come back with no new holes. I will do my best. Besides, there are too many great people here with questions and advice to abandon, and I am having a blast surfing around the forums, gleaning bits I can use, and contributing when I think I can.
It's not about the politics, and I actually prefer to keep them out of it. I was never much on the politics anyway. It makes my head hurt.
Now, as soon as my Axiom shows up (it's on backorder, my other one is at home) I can begin work on my Keyboard Corner Comp #13 submission.
See you around the forums. Jay
