My band was lined up to do one... and we got under-priced by another band!

1. What a bunch of jerks!
2. I hope the bar gets all of its $39.95 worth of band. \:D

In case you don't have a gig lined up but would like to next year...

- Look for your local Irish pub that features bands. If the bar/club is named Molly Malloy's, or Pat O'hearn's, or Kieran McNally's, I'd say you're on the right track. \:\)

- People (at least here in the USA) go out to the bar to drink and dance and be stupid on St. Patrick's Day. Don't expect to be the center of attention. Also: most bars want something pretty innocuous like classic rock on this day.

- If you can, learn an Irish drinking song with your band. The people will like it (even though only a tiny fraction of them will actually be Irish or have Irish heritage, people have fun pretending otherwise one day a year). More importantly, the club owner will like it and remember you for the next year.

- PUT OUT THE TIP JAR! It's a great day for tips.

So anyway, instead of gigging, perhaps I'll have a Guinness or two instead. \:\)

I have a gig the day before. Does that count?

The Irish pub here only has bands that do Irish music as their main genre.

Ah, that's a REAL Irish place. Most of the clubs over here at the beach cities are poser places that just want rock and pop so the young'uns can come in and order more green beer. But I've spent many an evening playing at Houlihans, Keegans, and Killians througout the year. It's a good thing for bands that Irish pubs are around in LA, since they're some of the few that haven't gone entirely away from live music or adopted DJs as their sole source of music.

Nah. I finally got us a show at the place we have been trying to get in when Whammo, I didn't confirm schedules with bandmates and the drummers sister is getting married that day.

BTW, glad to see you are ok Jeff.

Next time you leg it out this way, check out Killarney's Pub on Hwy 79s. It'll be in the center just East of Walmart, in the back. There's an el Pollo Loco by the entrance to the center.
They are opening a pub in Riverside just off of Central. The whole pub was designed and built in Ireland then shipped here. Other than the exterior.
