Sorry for much delayed answer to your question. The microphone would have to travel well for hand held stage use. Here is a more recent sample of a perfomance:

Heard good things about AKG C535EB (about $250) condenser. Does it travel well for live, hand held stage use.
Also the less expensive dynamic, Audix OM2.
Also would like to be able to turn into wireless, by adding a suitable transmitter. Would be nice if there was a transmitter that attached to XLR on bottom of microphone, and supplied phantom power for a condenser mic. Is there such a "generic" device that make a standard microphone wireless?
Recommendations welcome.

I would suggest 2 choices, both Shure. Beta57A for dynamic Beta87 for Condenser
Also, the new KSM9 is quite nice. However for a durable, sounds great always, can take a licking and keep on ticking, the Beta57A is my hands down choice. Excellent high end response that is very condensor like, smooth accurate mids and good bottom end with minimal proximity effect. Typcially live i set the hp filter around 150hz, cut 3.5K as narrow a q as the console has about 3db, and I'm done. Superb rejection, but not so tight that if the singer wants to wander off mic a bit they get lost.
You can put the Beta57A head on any Shure system. FWIW Cindy Lauper uses one wireless live.
