Why not an article about Genesis bass player Mike Rutherford...
Yes, you beat me to it. I'd love Bass Player to track him down for an interview. I don't know if he's even been mentioned in any issue.
I'll also through in a vote for Roger Waters.

HI Groover, we've been trying to get in touch with Roger Waters and Mike Rutherford for some time now. It's been difficult to pin them down, but we'll keep trying.

Hey Greg, how come Groover gets a response and I don't? You got something against Italians?

After 2003, and all the hoopla of getting a new bassist, I haven't heard much from the Robert Trujillo camp. Is Metallica melting away into mediocrity, or do they have a killer album up their sleeves? I would like to know how he's digging the band after 4 years and such. Their website is more tight-lipped than Area 51.
Thanks, Anthony

I am excited to hear that you guys have been attempting to contact Roger Waters, I've been absent for a while, came back to the "news" and am really anticipating this. Hope you guys get an interview with him. Oh and the concert from 2006 was amazing I might add!!!

Maybe an article on Flea or bring back a whole funk punk issue, bootsy collins, Jerry Jemmot, James Jamerson, and Flea. Just an issue on how the sound has progressed over the years.

Bass Player has been doing a great job in mixing interviews of old and new bassists, so it's hard to come up with ideas.
One newer bassist I'd like to see interviewed is Babydaddy from the Scissor Sisters. I think he gets lumped in with the keyboardists, but his playing on both their albums shows him to be a chameleon well versed in many styles of bass playing. Listen to the song "The Other Side" and you'll see what I mean.
Conrad Lozano from Los Lobos is another bass player who can play just about anything and make it groove.
Mark Mesauros and he Thrilla From Manila would be a great double interview as old and new bass players for the Smithereens.
Other than that, keep on covering the Latin and reggae bassists, and though I don't know the guy's name, the bass Player from the North African/Arab band Tinariwen is definitely worth giving both a listen to and some coverage.
