This might be an idea for a sticky? People could use this or a similar thread to propose a player whom they'd like to see on the BP cover or (at the very least) somewhere in the mag.
While I'm at it ...
How about an interview with Trevor Bolder?
He did some amazing work with David Bowie in the '70s and has continued to improve himself both as a bassist and as a songwriter in Uriah Heep , and it'd be a nice opportunity to sidetrack to the D\'Alegria basses which he endorses (assuming he still does).

Hi Eddie,
When I got my first CD player way back in the early '80s, "Aladdin Sane" was the first CD I owned. I love that record.
But on to your actual question about Trevor Bolder: We actually did a piece called "Where Are They Now?" with Trevor in the July '99 issue.
I like your "How about an interview with ... " idea. I'll run it by the other guys and see what they think.

I'd love to see another feature on Steve Harris. I understand that you have done a few things on him already, but he's really great. Plus, he turned so many people on to bass playing...Probably one of the first metal guys to drive a major band with the strength of his lines.
Thanks! John

John, it looks like October will be a much-anticipated issue for you. We're doing a B-I-G story on Mr. Steve Harris, penned by Associate Editor Brian Fox.
And Sweet Willie, we're working on a James Genus piece right now. I don't know when it's going to run, but it's way overdue. That guy is b-a-double d.

Wetton would be good, with Asia doing their 25 year reunion thingy soon.
Trip Wamsley is putting out another cd this fall; he'd be a good interview. (having met him, I'd like to just sit in on the interview and see what goes on and DOESN'T make it into the magazine!)
Tai Anderson of Third day
Aaron Sands (with Jars of Clay, and various other sessions)
And, of course... Pete Trewavas of Marillion (and Transatlantic, and Kino) Marillion is recording their 14th album, due out in the spring; so you;ve got plenty of time to pull that one together!

A double interview with Doug Wimbish & dUg Pinnick. They are currently on tour together: dUg Pinnick is replacing Corey Glover, Living Colour's singer for a European tour.

An interview with John Myung, Dream Theater. And a review to his Yamaha RXBJM2 would be great.
They are celebrating 20 years of good music, could be the great.
Thanks

Man, John Myung is everywhere - all over the musicians mags the least few years. How about someone we don't know about? (Sorry David, mate!) My vote is for Ricky Minor - he's on peaktime TV in millions of rooms and I, for one, know very little about him. I don't know if he'd have time for an interview though.

I still haven't seen Trevor Bolder featured in BP magazine Now wouldn't be a bad time, actually, since Uriah Heep has got a new drummer and is recording a new album.
Just a suggestion ...

How about Tal Wilkenfeld? After seeing the clip from BP Live and the review of her new CD in this months issue, I'm kind of curious.

I kinda like this line of thought - what about some of the bass players for the TV studios? I don't know who the guy is that plays on American Idol (no, not Randy!), but he has to play a VERY diverse set for each show, and he's good.

Will Lee comes to mind too. Don't know how long it's been since he was in BP though, since I've just recently come back to it.

Hey, I saw on the BP front page a blurb about Mike Huckabee and his bass playing. Want an interview with him? The lead singer in his band is one of my best friends, and his drummer is also a really good friend.

Bob Babbitt would be a terrific interview. His new book..."Bob Babbitt Awareness Guide" is a must read for any aspiring musician, and Bob and The Funk Brothers are being inducted this month into The Musicians Hall Of Fame in Nashville. Bob is a very funny guy, and has recorded for some of music's biggest artists.

I'm bumping my suggestion of Trevor, since Uriah Heep is set to release their new album Wake The Sleeper in March, if all goes well.
I would also second Tal Wilkenfeld, she's awesome Highly recommended debut album

Another bump for Trevor Bolder. But Tal Wilkenfeld was just featured in the November 2007 issue (the one with Meshell Ndegeocello on the cover).

She deserves a cover feature and a lengthy article. And pictures, loads and loads of pictures
By the way, editors, please note that Trevor Bolder does seem to arouse some interest ... *hint hint*

Hi
I would love to see a feature article on Louis Satterfield for both his bass playing in the blues/soul scene and his trombone playing in EWF.as well as what infulence he had on Verdine. What a great player, who gets no love.

How about an interview with Trevor Dunn? He has done a lot of wonderful work with Mr Bungle, Secret Chiefs, Fantomas, etc... He's a fantastic player with a very interesting approach to the instrument.

Dan Briggs of Between the Buried and Me deserves even a blurb. Fantastic bass player that shines through the muddy seas of metal bass playing.
