I'm currently working with a festival on developing a Latin Rock stage. Unfortunately in order to make the stage happen we need to seek new sponsors which is proving to be rather difficult. To float the cost of the staging I suggested a pay for play scenario.

The festival is one of the largest in California and attracts 400,000 people to its street festival over the course of the Memorial Day Weekend. If we can't float the cost of having this new stage it won't happen. Any suggestions???

Have you tried to ask the business people in the Latin community for sponsorship? I don't know what kind of money you need. I'm thinking a stage to be built and a professional sound person. You would think that with that amount of people that they could use the advertising.

thanks for your reply! since this stage is new we need to start from scratch in garnering new sponsorships. the cost for sound and staging is $5000. was looking to have a latin record label sponsor but was turned down..in terms of sponsorship from local businesses, it's pretty slim pickings...local businesses rather have festival goers to patronize their establishments in lieu of advertising...

I can't believe that you're unable to find some businesses that cater to the Latin community who would be willing to pony up some advertising funds. Personally, I think that if you go the pay-to-pay route, you will doom yourself by attracting the lowest quality entertainment.
