So, here's an idea.
Let's say I designated a specific thread for bands to post their music. The rules would be as follows:
1. You'd obviously have to host the MP3 on your own site, and pput a link to it in the thread.
2. You'd have to have the rights to post any original music (say, if it was co-written with another band member, you'd need their permission to post it). It would also be wise to paste a copyright notice on the post to help protect your self.
3. If it was a cover song, you'd need to give credit to the original songwriter in the post you put up that links to the MP3.
4. Since this is a band forum, I'm not interested in hearing tunes that you made alone in your bedroom on a computer (as an example). I'd like to hear either a) live recordings of your bands, or b) studio recordings that a band (i.e., multiple people) recorded.
5. I'd like to stick to stereo 128kbps MP3 as the format, since that's what is most compatible no matter what platform is being used for playback.
I don't believe we'd run into any problems... though if we did, I'd have to pull down the post (and perhaps the entire thread) immediately.
Would you participate in something like this?

I don't really frequent this side of the Musicplayer forums that much, but sure, I could drop an mp3 fulfilling the required criteria if such an occasion should arise. Though it would feel a bit like a blatant marketing scheme on my behalf, but if you guys 'n gals are cool with it, why not.
