Hi you guys,

I would appreciate it very much if anyone of you guys could show me how to change one voice to another quickly on the Yamaha S90. To make my question clear, suppose I'm playing a song, for the first part of a song, I choose piano, for the second part, I want to quickly change it to string.

The manual is so confusing to me. The best I could do is to save my favorite voices into the Favorite Folder.

Thanks in advance guys.

Ken

The master mode is quite powerful, but if you just need to quickly change programs from one sound to the next (no complex layering and such), just save them to the user program locations in the order that you'd like. There's nothing you'd overwrite there that isn't somewhere else.

You should do it in 10s or 5s or just have a bank that has your most used patches if you only use a few meat and potato sounds.

I haven't played out in a long time, but when I used to, I'd put the patches in order of the set list. Or, if the set lists were variable, I'd group patches by song.

Even more fun was when I was in cover bands. I would set up patches by the band, samples effects and all. It required a MIDI patchbay, but you ge tthe idea.

You may want to change your user name and stick around a while. Welcome.

Hi Ken... though you got lucky by getting a great response from zeronyne above, there is a dedicated forum here for keyboards that might be more helpful to future questions about your S90.

Check out the Keyboard Corner ... there are lots of yamaha S-series owners there who can probably give you lots of stuff you won't get from the manual.

Best of luck!

Program Change INC(rement) or Program Change DEC(crement) can be assigned to a footswitch.
