I had a succesful band for many years. I took out loans and built a bunch of speaker cabinets, monitors and racks and light boxes and basically supplied the PA, the light show, and the box truck to carry all the gear. My people supplied their stage gear and mics.
The agent got 15%, I took 15% off the top and split 70% four ways between me and my hired band mates (bass, drum and female singer; I played guitar and sang half the tunes, they were all specialists).
They all made more money than they had in any other band (who all hired sound men, and light men etc; I did that stuff with midi and careful sound checks).
So how do you work it out?
